Train company European Sleeper has announced plans to launch a new direct night service linking Brussels and Amsterdam with Copenhagen and Malmö. The operator, founded as a cooperative in 2021, has introduced several new overnight routes across Europe in recent years.
According to Belgian and Dutch media, European Sleeper now intends to run night trains to Malmö from April 2028, working in collaboration with the German company RDC. The plan would extend the operator’s growing network further into the Nordics, with the Danish capital served along the way.
The timetable has not yet been confirmed. As it stands, trains would depart at around 7pm from Brussels or Malmö and arrive at their destination at roughly 10am the following morning, with the company’s website indicating the route would run three times a week. It is not yet clear whether the service would also stop in Germany.
European Sleeper already operates routes between Brussels and Prague, Paris and Berlin, and Brussels and Milan. Its trains offer a range of couchette compartments sleeping between three and six passengers, which can also be booked as private or women-only cabins, alongside a budget seating option.
The proposed link reflects a broader revival of overnight rail travel across Europe, and would place Denmark on an expanding map of cross-border sleeper connections between the Nordics and the continent.
