SmallClaims Raises €2 Million to Expand AI Platform for Unpaid Invoice Cases

SmallClaims, a Danish company that uses AI to pursue unpaid invoices through the courts, has raised €2 million in a seed round led by Vendep Capital. The money will fund work on its AI platform, expansion across Europe and new hires in Copenhagen.

The company was founded in 2021 by Christian Olson, an attorney who serves as chief executive. His argument is that the legal system was designed for an era when lawyers handled every case by hand, a model that does not make sense for a small invoice of 15,000 kroner. Olson says European companies give up hundreds of billions of euros a year that they are legally entitled to collect, because pursuing small debts costs too much.

SmallClaims describes its platform as AI-native. Specialised AI agents handle the whole process of a case, from the legal assessment through settlement, filing, judgment and enforcement. The company says this has cut manual work from more than 15 hours per case to about 1.5 hours, which allows it to take on claims at a fraction of the usual cost. In practical terms, a case that once took the best part of two working days now takes under two hours. It aims to reach a point within two years where humans need to check less than 5 per cent of what the platform produces.

The figures behind the round show steady growth. SmallClaims handled more than 3,200 cases in 2025, and its case volume has risen by more than 370 per cent since 2023. It serves more than 500 clients, including debt collection agencies, law firms and other businesses. The company points to market data showing that 47 per cent of business-to-business invoices in Western Europe are paid late and about 6 per cent of them end up as losses. Jupe Arala, a partner at Vendep Capital, said the team is “already winning more than nine out of ten cases”.

SmallClaims expects its revenue to triple in 2026, and its longer-term goal is annual revenue above €100 million. Reaching that level will depend on taking the platform beyond Denmark into other European legal systems, each with its own rules for small claims and enforcement. With the seed funding in place, the company plans to grow its Copenhagen team and push further into automation as it prepares for that expansion.
