The sensation, Filipino American artist and entrepreneur, takes Filipinos in the City of Angels by storm with his record label and newly released EP. Known for his bilingual serenades and catchy pop tunes, Garth Garcia looks to fight his way to the top of the streaming charts.
His musical career has been spiced up with awards, the most prestigious one being the Best Male R&B Artist from the PMPC Star Awards and inclusion in the list of the 75 most Influential Filipino Americans. He is now geared up to get back in the scene, finally with his artistry intact and back with a vengeance.
It was not performances alone that were to encompass all of Garcia's influence on the musical world. He owns the international record label STARLINK, representing eight artists, including Tootsie Guevarra, a very prolific Filipino singer with whom he has done a featured collaboration. A whiz-kid of an artist has released his latest EP, "Lifelines," with new cuts like "Mistaken Love" and "Kiss Me Goodnight" together with previously released chart-toppers, such as this one from October 2023, "Always in My Head," which debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Electronic Music Charts. With assuredness in his tone, lovesick lyric sensibilities, and a voice like silk, Garcia guns for prominent chart placement with this experimental EP, which unmistakably pulses with Filipino flair.
The deeper cultural roots are what mainly fuel his music for Garcia. Sounds of jazz and what seemed to be a running record player in his ears as a youngster created a passion for music. "I grew up admiring The Stylistics," says Garcia in an interview with NOW Magazine. "Their song 'You Make Me Feel Brand New' is so good; it's like such a beautiful production in every regard."
He moved to Los Angeles to chase music and gained footing in the LA entertainment scene by hosting his own videos and creating brand content. He makes heritage seem very alive in his work—directly influenced and further pushed by other such Filipino talents who came before him —such as Bruno Mars and H.E.R. Tagalog forms the cradle of the work that he includes in his discography of songs: "heritages brought forth, Filipino representation and stories can be told through the lyrics."
"I get inspiration from musicians who have brought pride and a soul to the Philippines," said Garcia. "I take such pride in being inspired by Bruno Mars' music, also by H.E.R.'s. It's just a dream to be working with both of these artists, for what they represent to me and our country is simply legend."
On top of his successful music career, Garcia also does education and change work that touches many lives. He volunteers with Doctors on the Go Professional Group, a health facility that offers deliverable health services to the community at home. He is currently studying Business and leadership development at Harvard Business School.
Earlier this year, he made one huge stride in his musical career by finishing a tour culminated with "THE MUSIC OF ABBA." Truly back in the game, he graces the stage with songs from his newest EP. For anyone who loves soul music, sincere lyrics, and Filipino excellence, Garth Garcia is the artist.
